Theatre Bristol presents the whodunit “Deathtrap” directed by Gary Aday at the Cameo Theatre, 703 State Street, Bristol, Virginia, opening October 23rd and running for two weekends, including a special Halloween late-night showing. Tickets now on sale at www.TheatreBristol.org/tickets.
 
Seemingly comfortable in his charming Connecticut home, Sidney Bruhl, played by Dan Gray, is a successful writer of Broadway thrillers who is now struggling to overcome a string of recent failures and a shortage of funds. When a student, Clifford Anderson played by Scott Hill, sends him a new script—a thriller that Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit–Sidney sees an opportunity.
 
With the help of his wife Myra Bruhl played by Nicole Intagliata, Sidney devises a plan to “collaborate” with the student. Suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn with attorney Porter Milgrim played by Terry Marek and psychic Helga Ten Drop played by Gina Kraut, the devilish cleverness builds to a still-startling finale. Called the "Swiss watchmaker" of suspense novels by Stephen King, playwright and author Ira Levin is known for his award-winning and longest-running comedy thriller on Broadway “Deathtrap,” as well as “A Kiss Before Dying,” “Rosemary’s Baby,” “The Boys from Brazil,” and “The Stepford Wives.”
 
Veteran director Gary Aday directs this mystery favorite and is supported by assistant director Mark Stewart, assistant stage manager Cristy Robinson, scenic designer Luke Gray, costume designer Debbie DiFrancesco, props artisan Rebecca Ryan, tech director Albert Tester, graphic designer Camille Gray, and producer Samantha Gray.
 
Performances are at the Cameo Theatre weekends October October 23 through November 1, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm and Sundays at 2:30 pm, with a special October 31 9:30 pm performance. “Deathtrap” is part of Theatre Bristol’s 2026 Season of comedies, dramas, and musicals, including "American Tall Tales" with River’s Way, "Charlotte's Web," "Grease," "Red, White and Tuna," "The Mockingbird Sings," and "It's a Wonderful Life" the musical; and the Cathy DeCaterina School of Theatre Arts classes; "The SpongeBob Musical": Youth Edition; PLAYtime in the ARTspace; The StART of Adventure summer camp; and audition and stagecraft workshops. 
 
This project is funded in part under an agreement with the State of Tennessee administered by the Tennessee Commission for the United States Semiquincentennial celebrating Tennessee America 250.
 
Founded in 1965 by Cathy DeCaterina, Theatre Bristol is a community theatre serving all ages that also has the distinction as the oldest continually running children’s theatre in northeast Tennessee, with a long history continuing to serve southeast Virginia. Its seasons consist of drama, comedy, and musical productions that take place at the Paramount Center for the Arts, in the blackbox ARTspace Theatre, and at the Cameo Theatre, and educational opportunities provided by our School of Theatre Arts.
